Liv Ingeborg Ottersen (b. 1966) is a Norwegian artist whose practice is rooted in painting, often abstract and conceptually driven, with sewn figures and textile-based surfaces that explore repetition, layering, and materiality. Fabric has long been central to her work, and she has worked with tulle for many years, using it as a grid-like overlay in her paintings as well as a translucent material that allows light and colour to interact in delicate, layered ways.
Her practice has recently extended into installation, where tulle now inhabits the space in between, engaging with architectural structures—soft, flowing fabric in dialogue with solid arches. While venturing into installation, she continues to work with paintings, allowing the two approaches to coexist and inform each other, creating a dynamic conversation between surface, material, and space.
